Hi! I ‘m  Shruti.

As a child I was not sure what I wanted to become. But since taking up accountancy in year 10 I knew what I wanted to be in life. ‘An accountant’ and here I am 20 years down the line living my dream!

How was Charity Accountant born?

I developed a keen interest in charities having trained at a firm of accountants in Greenwich specialising in charities and not for profits. Later this interest developed into my passion. I gained immense understanding about a variety of charities and the way their finances were managed. After gathering vast knowledge in accounting and financial reporting for charities it was time to give back. This is when Charity Accountant was born. So that small charities could find affordable and quality accounting services with a personal touch. Today, I have over 22 years of experience training and working as an accountant out of which 13 years are in charity and voluntary sector in UK.

Experience and responsibilities

Having joined as trainee I quickly got promoted and before I realised I was the Audit and Accounts Supervisor. Seeing it from bottom to top you come to learn all the ins and out of charity accounting like bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and  VAT returns. Before long, I was thrown in the depths to realise on my potential. As a result majority of my experience is in accounts preparation complying with Charity SORP, independent examination and bookkeeping.

Leading the audit teams, I was in charge of audit for charities handling larger and complex audits. Advising clients on various issues regarding bookkeeping, accounts and financial procedures was a task that I took seriously because it made them see that we cared.

I remember, once due to a staff member leaving, my manager said that she does not need to hire anyone new but just clone Shruti! Which I would rather take as a compliment.

Well, having said all that you don’t have to just take my word for it. Here is what our clients have to say.
